Liam's Biography

My Testimony
I was born in 1968 in Liverpool, having a rough early life. Expelled from school at 14, I started to earn a living on an ice cream van and then on Liverpool market stalls. My fascination with music caused me to launch out as a ‘tribute artist’ performing Phil Collins songs locally.

In 1995 I appeared on ITVs “Stars in Their Eyes” performing as Phil Collins. The following years took me around the world as a Phil Collins tribute artist and culminated in a live performance in front of Phil at an end of tour party at Earl’s Court, London. This fulfilled one of my greatest ambitions, to perform in front of my idol. After that performance Phil endorsed me as his number one tribute act.

Despite having achieved one of my main goals in life, the questions “what’s life all about?” and “is this all there is?” haunted me. Achievement, money and fame did not satisfy. Relationships broke down, and cocaine and alcohol did not fill the emptiness inside me. I had seen the heights of fame but sunk into the depths of depression.

A Life Changed
In 1998, whilst driving alone down to a “gig”, thoughts regarding the pointlessness of life started to overwhelm me and I contemplated suicide to escape from a meaningless world. In this despair I heard a voice urging me to “phone a mate” and so I did and he told me that it was the voice of Jesus and encouraged me to pray. My mate explained to me that Jesus loved me and that I needed to ask him to forgive me for all the wrong things that I had done in my life. I did this and my life changed. I stopped swearing, I didn’t crave drugs anymore and I discovered peace and contentment. I found a faith that is not based on ‘religion’ but is based on a ‘relationship with God’.

My life Now
Since 1998 my life has completely changed, I joined Elim Pentecostal which is a lively local church, and now have a ministry that takes me around the country singing and sharing my life story of what Jesus has done, in the last seven years the Lord has taught me many new things.

In April 2005 I released a CD called "In The Air Tonight". On this EP there are 3 of my own songs and a personal account of how life can be tough but how God is able to bring you through these times and make us stronger. My most recent project is "You're the Voice". This CD is now avialable (2006) to buy and you can listen to tracks from the EP on the CD info page.
